how to apply

1. Send the application and status letter forms to apply.studyabroad@gaf.edu.eg, the     status letter should be two pages (maximum) summary clarifying the following:

  • Why are you a good candidate for the study abroad programme? (Highlighting both your academic and extracurricular achievements)
  • What will you bring back to UH-GAF from the experience on return?
  • Send the application and status letter forms to apply.studyabroad@gaf.edu.eg, the status letter should be two pages (maximum) summary clarifying the following:

2. Provide a consent letter from the parent/legal guardian. The letter form will be      provided by UH-GAF study abroad office.

3. Payment receipt of reservation fees 3,000 pounds.

The amount is refundable upon return from abroad or if not selected or in case of withdrawal before the deadline (5th of March if you are applying for one year long), and (5th of September if you are applying for one semester, semester B). The fees are non-refundable in case of withdrawal after the deadline.

4. The panel will shortlist students who meet the criteria outlined in point (1).

5. Shortlisted students will be interviewed by a panel chaired by the President/Provost (or delegate) and will include one subject specific specialist, the designated study abroad Coordinator at UH-GAF, and a representative from the programme at UH (normally the Collaborative Partnership lead).

6. The final nomination list will be forwarded to UH, to allow the transfer process to be initiated (transfer of registration, accommodation arrangements, visa issuance, etc) 

7. Successful candidates will be notified by email. 

Nomination Criteria

  • Students will have normally passed all elements at first attempt
  • Students should be in good standing with respect to fee payment (no debt).
  • Students should not have any record of academic misconduct.
  • Selection of students will be based on academic criteria and evidence of extracurricular activities.
  • The number of places available will be dependent on the capacity of the UH programmes.
  • Proof of English will be required for one year-long study (IELTS).

Neighborhood

Transportation guide

The University shuttle bus is a free service between The Forum on College Lane campus and de Havilland campus. For more details:

The University has its own bus company, Uno. Uno runs local buses throughout Hertfordshire and into North London. Discounted tickets are available. You must show your ID card to get the discounted rate. Please visit the Uno website for timetable information, the app and other routes.

Medical Insurance

One Semester

You will need to take out personal travel and health insurance for your period in the UK.This cost will be borne by the student.

One Year Long

The Insurance will be included in your Visa cost.

Accommodation   

You can book your stay in a Hall of Residence at UH, but you can also stay locally and UH will assist you in this process. Accommodation costs will vary according to whether you are in university accommodation or private accommodation.

Before you travel to the UK, you need to bring enough funds to cover the cost of living, in terms of everyday expenses, including accommodation fees. Cost of living will vary according to your accommodation choice and your everyday expenses depend on your lifestyle, preferences, and activities.
