Engineering is one of the broadest and most integral fields of study, as it can solve some of the most impactful problems the world faces today. From coding and programming to manufacturing cars and maintaining a wide variety of products and systems, an engineer’s day-to-day is about creating, innovating, and building solutions that require logical thinking and critical analytical skills.

Our School of Engineering and Computer Science programme supports our students through our advanced labs, high-tech facilities, and research studies. The University of Hertfordshire in Egypt worked closely together with the University of Hertfordshire in the UK’s School of Engineering & Computer Science to provide our students with a world-class learning and experiential facilities to help them develop practical skills and knowledge that are sought-after in global markets.

Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics

About the Degree

Our Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering programme is a multidisciplinary degree that provide students with a wider range of knowledge and practical skills for a dynamic and evolving field.

This degree offers a comprehensive introduction to Engineering, giving our students the flexibility to work in a broad range of industries. In this multidisciplinary degree, you will learn the fundamental skills and knowledge of a modern engineer from mechanics, thermodynamics, design, manufacturing to materials science.

Our courses are designed to meet industry needs with accreditation from many professional bodies including Tech Partnership and the Institute of Engineering and Technology. The students get the chance to learn mechanical engineering and mechatronics subjects in core modules that balance laboratory activities with the relevant, supportive theoretical knowledge.

  • As a UH-GAF student you will have access to the University of Hertfordshire’s StudyNet web-based facility, which allows students to access electronic teaching and learning resources from UH in the UK and have online discussions with faculties and students. 
  • The School is ranked 2nd in the East of England (after Cambridge) for Mechanical Engineering (2023 Complete University Guide).
  • Study in excellent facilities and state-of-the-art laboratory with industry-standard equipment. Engineering Graduates are certified as Incorporated Engineers (IENG) by the UK Engineering Council.
  • The ability to complete certain requirements to be certified as Chartered Engineer (CEng) by the UK Engineering Council.

Progression Requirements:  From IFP to Level 4

Students are expected to meet the following requirements in the International Foundation Programme (IFP) to progress to Level 4. 
  • Achieve a grade of 50% or more in Engineering Maths 2. 
  • Achieve a grade of 50% or more in Engineering Science 2.
  •  Achieve a grade of 40% or more in all other modules.

Civil Engineering

About the Degree

From the world’s tallest buildings to the most spectacular bridges to airports, highways, hospitals and rail networks, civil engineers provide the critical infrastructure that makes our lives easier. Our programme provides our students with the principles of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, environmental engineering, materials, surveying and construction. With our degree, the students discover the latest techniques and developments, such as low- carbon materials and sustainability.  

Our Civil Engineering programme, equips our students with a wide range of knowledge and skills to take on their careers in a variety of professions, including planning, designing, management, and construction development. This degree provides our students with strong ties to the professional construction industry through sites training, internships, and partnerships.

Civil Engineering graduates find jobs in project management and working in smart cities, where networks are made with more digital solutions. Other career opportunities are quantity surveyors, site engineers, geotechnical, structural, environmental, procurement, and tendering engineers.

BSc Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence)

About the Degree

Artificial Intelligence is a rapidly growing and exciting field in technology, where computers and other devices are designed and developed to display intelligent characteristics, that can and will transform the world around us. Our Computer Science Degree (Artificial Intelligence) focuses on Artificial Intelligence and robotics building along with a broad base in technology and software development. 

In the first two years, you’ll find an emphasis on software development, professional programming, the modelling and design of systems and data, the principles of networking and user experience. These give you the core skills to specialize in AI, where you can study the analysis, design and construction of knowledge-based and expert systems, artificial life and robotics, and systems based around the use of neural networks.

BSc Computer Science (Cyber Security and Networks)

About the Degree

Computer networking is an essential part of modern life: from the networked applications that run on smartphones and the internet, to the secure systems demanded by global business.

This course adds a specialism in networking to a broad base in technology and software development.

In the first two years you’ll find anemphasis on software development, professional programming, the modelling of systems and data and the issues that arise in a networked environment. From this foundation you’ll learn about protocols, network design, constructing distributed applications and defending against cyber attacks.

The course will enable you to create and evaluate systems and applications within a networked environment.
